Events: FX Hackathon 2022 - a student event for pedalheads and effect enthusiasts

FX Hackathon Overview

Effects and audio processes are an integral part of modern music-making. In this event hosted by the Electric Guitar Innovation Lab (EGIL) and the Interactive Music Systems Lab (IMSLab), WPI students work in small teams with coaches (musicians, faculty, and professionals from pedal/effects communities) to create cool audio effects devices! Sponsored by The Les Paul Foundation !

The FX Pedal Hackathon!

Students of all majors and experience levels are invited to participate—only a love of audio and an interest in learning about effects processing are required! Prizes, fun, food, and weird sounds!

You can also show up just to watch and listen as things happen without participating!

Do This (if you're a WPI student)!

-On your laptop, download the FX Testing Rig using the link below and complete all install steps in the ReadMe
-Read the FX Development Primer before the event
-Show up at Higgins House w/your laptop & headphones...you can bring an instrument, pedals, an amp, or none of those things if you'd like!

Our Software-to-Hardware Development Workflow

From code to hardware! We develop/adapt/prototype effects using software-based resources and then push that code to pedals and other standalone hardware devices!
